Your IAPE bargaining team sat down with management today expecting to make progress on the contract. After all, it was only our second session.
Instead, the company refused to even talk. It seems management's retrograde contract proposal, which would torpedo the quality of our news organizations, speaks for itself.
Now we need your help.
As we've said time and time again, what happens away from the bargaining table is more important than what happens at the table.
That's why we're calling on the newsroom to band together and make a statement with your actions.
In response to the company's refusal to bargain, please stop appearing for free on CNBC, webcasts and podcasts. Those are voluntary tasks that many of us have taken on out of the kindness of our hearts. We say no more. No pay, no work. (If you get paid extra for appearing online or on the air, please continue.)
The bottom line: If Dow Jones won't even discuss paying you a fair wage and benefits, there's no reason to do extra work for free. Quality work deserves quality pay— and you deserve a quality contract.
If you have any questions, please let us know.
