Outsourcing: Now It's Factiva

On the heels of the outsourcing announcements made at Dow Jones, Factiva now has announced that it is reviewing the possibility of outsourcing some of the jobs that you and your colleagues are doing.

We've been told the review involves roughly two dozen jobs and should be completed by the end of September.

Factiva readily admits that those two dozen employees under "review" are doing a great job— in fact, Factiva would be hard pressed to find anyone who could do it better— but still, the company is considering sending those jobs elsewhere.

Outsourcing your job— or the job of one of your coworkers— is short-sighted, self-defeating and unnecessary. No matter what the company might say about "agility" or "the changes and demands of the business," this is about money.

Your union will do everything it can to convince Factiva that outsourcing these jobs is the wrong decision to make.

We will do everything we can to save as many jobs as possible and negotiate the best severance package enhancements for those people whose jobs can't be saved.
