Employee Free Choice Act

The following is a personal note from IAPE President Steve Yount.

IAPE has never been a "political union" and we've never taken a role in the labor campaigns of our parent unions, The Newspaper Guild or the Communications Workers of America. Such a policy made perfect sense because of the significant number of journalists in IAPE. But I'm asking you to consider an exception — especially the non-journalists among the IAPE ranks.


The CWA is engaged in a major campaign to win approval for the Employee Free Choice Act, a national version of the card check rights IAPE has in its own contract: card check rights that we used to organize the Newswires operations at Harborside and Marketwatch in Washington, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Card Check Rights have always been important for every member of IAPE as we faced the challenge of protecting our contract by growing the union. They will be even more important as we deal with life inside News Corp.

So, please, take a look at the information about the Employee Free Choice Act and sign the petition.
