Another One-Year Contract Extension at Dow Jones

PRINCETON, NJ (July 13, 2015) — The Independent Association of Publishers' Employees (IAPE), Local 1096 of The NewsGuild - Communications Workers of America, has reached a tentative agreement with Dow Jones and Company on another one-year extension of the collective agreement covering more than 1,400 employees across the United States and in Canada.

The deal has been reviewed by The NewsGuild and approved for ratification vote of the IAPE membership. The elected Board of Directors of Local 1096 has, by majority vote, opted to recommend the extension, which will be presented to IAPE members for ratification later this month.

If approved by the membership, this would mark the second one-year extension of a collective agreement originally negotiated in 2010. As with the 2014 agreement, this extension provides salary increases of at least 2% for all IAPE-represented employees. Raises will be paid retroactive to July 1, 2015.

All other terms and conditions of the 2010-2014 contract remain unchanged, including contract language that places a cap on annual health care premium increases, but gives management "the discretion and flexibility to change and modify its benefit plan design and coverages" without "substantially reduc(ing) the totality of the benefits package."

The extended agreement would have a new expiry date of June 30, 2016.
