Bargaining Update 02.18.10
We had a short — but productive — session with Dow Jones as contract bargaining resumed Thursday, February 18, 2010.
Dow Jones presented IAPE with some serious proposals, including their re-worked positions on seniority, job protection and severance packages, and we spent a number of hours in caucus, formulating our response. We'll pursue each at next week's bargaining session.
The bottom line is that we're making progress and the company clearly understands your opposition to its initial demand for blanket waivers.
There's still a lot of work to be done — and we expect to see an accelerated bargaining schedule in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, its critical that you stay engaged.
Post a "Keep It in the Contract" poster at your desk — management, at all levels, needs to hear from you. By the way, if you haven't received a poster from a board member or steward yet, let us know. We-ll get one to you asap.
You can also follow the bargaining — and offer your comments — on IAPE's Facebook page.
As always, if you need anything, let us know.
