Memorial Day
Monday, May 31, 2010 is Memorial Day, a holiday for US-based IAPE-represented employees of Dow Jones. (In Canada, the holiday was Victoria Day, Monday, May 24, 2010.) It's guaranteed by the contract.
We hope you have the holiday off. But if you spend your holiday tending to the business of Dow Jones, there's some extra money waiting for you.
If you're an IAPE-represented employee in the US and you work on Memorial Day, Monday the 31st (or Monday the 24th for Canadian-based employees), you get time-and-a-half for your regularly scheduled hours (double-time for anything beyond the regular shift) AND another day off, or another day of pay, at the discretion of the company.
This covers everyone in the unit, regardless of whether you're eligible for overtime or not.
It's your money. All you have to do is file for it. And, as always, if there's a problem getting paid, let us know.
