I wanted to update you as I wrap up my first full week as union president — I am heartened to report that things are off to a great start! IAPE's new officers and directors met last Saturday for a day-long meeting in Jersey City. One of two annual gatherings for the union's board, representatives from across classifications and locations discussed important issues including our structure and priorities as well as how we can make IAPE a better resource for you.

In the coming weeks, we will be reaching out with details on information sessions, training opportunities and other ways you can get involved and connect with other IAPE members.

As most of you know, we have lots of work to do and an active and engaged membership is critical to our success. Please reach out to me with any suggestions you have on how we can improve IAPE or if you want to know more about how our union works.

And if you are in New York, make sure you stop by my desk on the fourth floor to pick up a T-shirt, some desk signs or just to say, "hi!"
